“To
all those caught by the fly”
With
the new season now upon us and a few trips under the belt
I can report that all three marks are looking very encouraging.
The Winner bar has changed over the winter months , probably
due to the hinge at East Head capitulating and the currents
moving the gravel about . Pilsey and Thorney island are already
holding a lot of Golden Mullet and they can be seen surfing
on the shoreline for shrimp when the wind allows the fetch
to build up from the South West . Water clarity is looking
good already and there are signs that the fry are already
out due to the mild winter , January was quoted as being the
mildest in recorded history ! so it should allow another good
year class to get through.
As for
the Bass , this time of year they are holed up in a few places
around the harbour , the North Side of the Winner Bar in deep
water is showing a lot of fish but the water temperature to
date is still cold and the fish haven’t yet started
to disperse - early days yet .
We are
having an open day at the shop in South Street Chichester
( April 23rd ) which I will be attending to introduce people
to Salt Water Fly Fishing for the Bass , so if any of you
find yourselves in the area over that w/e I look forward to
talking to you then . The new Spanish section of the website
was put live last week which I hope you’ll find interesting
, easy to get to with a fantastic all year round climate ,,
if you’re like me and suffer in the English winter from
Fly-fishing blues , Malaga is just two and a half hours away
with some of the best Black Bass and Sea Bass fishing anywhere,
all year round . I’ve attached a couple of specimen
Bass for you to look at (See picture Gallery on www.bass-fishing.co.uk
Spanish Section ) and if you’re interested just call
me to discuss getting your fly wet on the South coast this
season or experimenting with a short week-end visit to the
Southern Spanish resort of Puerto Banus
Tight
Lines to you all
