It
is always with great horror that I watch the news and
see how man is destroying the planets ecosystem at the
moment China is stealing the headlines with chemical
factory leaks destroying their water supply this recent
leak is drifting through china and heading towards Russia.
So we in England sit back are thinking how lucky we
are in the United Kingdom to not have these polution
worries.
So you
may be shocked that an endangered fish species that
have been around since the ice age habitat is so polluted
that on December 1st 2005 the RAF have been called in
to Helicopter lift the whole population to a new location.
So is this location in the middle of a large industrial
complex, I hear you ask no these fish are found swimming
in Derwentwater in the Lake District. Yes the Lake District
where we all go for holiday each year has seen such
a drop in water quality that the ancient breed of fish
called Vendace need to be moved to the nearby Sprinkling
Tarn in the Borrowdale Valley in the Lake District.
Each year
we fisherman sadly see our rivers pumped dry by over
zealous water extraction this is sad as is a river dries
up for just a few hours the whole eco system is destroyed
not just the fish but the insect life and plant life
many of which can be unique to a few miles of river
and may be lost forever.
